He has over 40 years of experience in real estate and over 20 years experience in appraising properties. He has been FHA-approved since 1999 and VA-approved since 2012. He started Joseph A Porter & Associates in 1999. The company has grown from the basement of his home to a new location with three additional appraisers and an office administrator. They work to maintain public trust by providing unbiased appraisal reports in a manner that is not misleading and easy for clients to understand. Over the years, they have built a diverse client base consisting of FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional lenders. They also specialize in residential, estates, farms, vacant land appraisals and complex properties.
He’s a certified Green Home appraiser and state-certified FHA compliant. He has a bachelor’s of science in business administration from Ohio Northern University. He has developed relationships with several large clients and many more individuals throughout central Ohio in more than 22 counties.
He has an associate degree in art from Marion Technical College. He has 8 years of experience in real estate and 8 years of experience appraising properties. He’s experienced in complex and rural assignments and proficient in understanding local markets and neighborhood trends. He continually strives to improve his understanding of the appraisal practice and keep up to date on all relevant standards in an effort to provide a quality service to my clients.
Brock joined the Joseph A. Porter & Associates team towards the beginning of 2021. He has over 18 years of managerial experience. His extensive experience in accounting (AR/AP), logistics, operations, and management make Brock a great fit to the Joseph A. Porter & Associates team. Brock oversees the day to day operations of the Joseph A. Porter & Associates offices where his work experience has a positive impact on the business. Brock has lived in Morrow County his entire life and having grown up with his fellow co-workers, working as a team comes easy.
I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from The Ohio State University, where I majored in History. I have always been interested in trying to better understand the events that shaped who we are today. I have a wide range of work experience, including 8 years in management at UPS. The analytical skills I developed through my studies/ management experience have been instrumental in helping me to understand appraisal principles/practices and interpreting market trends. I joined the JAP team in 2017. I have performed various roles with the company over the last 6 years, all of which have helped me to better understand the valuation process and the importance of delivering credible assignment results. I recently earned my Certified Residential Appraiser license. I’m currently working to obtain the home measurement specialist certification, the green home certification and becoming a member of the Appraisal Foundation.
